Dec 7, 2020 Santa Clara County Stay-at-home update

Dear Dental Family,

We hope you and your families had a nice Thanksgiving and are safe during these trying times. We wanted to inform you that we are aware of the new restrictions that the state of California and the respective counties are placing once again in response to the Covid-19 resurgence. We currently have been told that Dentistry is an essential service. Thus, we will continue to remain open during this time.

As a lot of you know and have experienced firsthand, we as an office continue to uphold the highest of standards when it comes to patient and staff safety as it relates not only to Covid-19 but all types of pathogens. We continue to implement pre-appointment Covid surveys, temperature checks, a medical-grade hydroxyl radical air-disinfecting device that runs 24/7, UV-C lights in our HVAC system, open windows, fans, HEPA/ UV-C air filters in treatment rooms, spaced out appointment times, cleaning with approved disinfectants and of course wear all proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Since re-opening on June 1, we have had no known transmission of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) at our office.

We believe that keeping routine appointments is essential to limiting dental emergencies. Because of the added safety measures we have in place, the social distancing requirements, and limiting the number of patients in the office at one time, it is very difficult to accommodate dental emergencies the way we used to. We believe that maintaining routine cleaning schedules and taking care of any dental work recommended will aid in not only keeping your teeth and mouth healthy but also your body.

Now, more than ever, we believe in our motto of "Oral Health for Life." But not only do we want you to have healthy mouths, we also want to make sure that you have a healthy body and dental health is all a part of that process. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email or call us at the office or you can take a closer look here to see a more detailed explanation of our Covid-19 procedures and protocols. We look forward to seeing you soon and we hope you and your families all have a safe and happy holiday season!

Warmly,
Drs. Carr & Yee, Nicole, Linda, Mel, Jane & Erin

The Elephants have arrived!

What is an elephant you ask? Here's the lowdown......

ADS EOS extraoral dental suction system

The ADS EOS extraoral dental suction system collects aerosols, droplets, dust and pathogens produced during routine dental procedures through a suction mouthpiece hood. Particulate matter is filtrated by the dust/particulate filter. The HEPA filter captures particles down to 0.3 microns with 99.995% efficiency. Clean dry air is exhausted from the base cabinet. The UVC lights are positioned on the HEPA filter and kill any remaining bacteria and viruses captured by the HEPA filter and are exhausted from the cabinet base.

Aren't they cute?!

May 27th, 2020 Office open for routine care!

Dear Dental Family,

We are prepared to open our practice to routine care on June 1, 2020!

We trust you and your loved ones are well and have remained safe the past few months.

During shelter-in-place we have been preparing our office to expand beyond the emergency cases we have seen to more routine care under the guidance of our regulatory and governing authorities. We've made some changes to support this, while maintaining the level of patient care that you are accustomed to . We are implementing enhanced healthcare protocols in an effort to maintain social distancing and provide safe dental care.

There a few things we need your help with before you come for your dental visit(s):

  • Face masks or coverings are required to enter our office, including caregivers/guardians accompanying patients.
  • You will receive a communication from us within 48 hours before your appointment to ask some COVID -19 screening questions. You will be asked these same questions again when you arrive at our office in addition to checking your temperature.
  • We ask that you text or call us when you arrive. Please wait in your car until we’re ready for you to enter.
  • We request that you limit the number of visitors to only those people necessary for the appointment.
  • Parents will be asked to remain in their car whenever possible
  • Social distancing around the office will be observed as much as practically possible.
  • If you are interested, please go to our link on our website describing our infection control practices: CLICK HERE FOR PDF

May 7th, 2020 Check-in

Dear Dental Family,

We eagerly await the day we can return to our practice life and see you!

We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones well, staying safe and healthy in this time of crisis.

Did you know dentistry has always been deemed an essential service? However, our governing authorities have mandated that elective or preventative dental procedures continue to be delayed until further notice.

We are hoping to reopen our office on June 1st, but we will notify you if there are any changes. Our #1 priority is the safety of our patients and staff. We're making some changes to support this, while maintaining the level of patient care that you are accustomed to . We are implementing enhanced healthcare protocols in an effort to maintain social distancing and provide safe dental care.

Please make careful note of the following changes to your dental visits:

  • Face masks or coverings are required to enter our office, including caregivers/guardians accompanying patients.
  • We have “closed” our waiting area and will ask patients to wait in their car until we’re ready for you to enter.
  • We will be screening your health status as well as taking temperatures with a non-contact thermometer prior to entering the building. Any patient showing signs of illness or fever will be asked to reschedule their appointment.
  • You will be required to use hand sanitizer or wash your hands before being seen.
  • We request that you not bring a companion to your appointment unless you are accompanying a minor child. No more than two patients will be allowed in the office per appointment.
  • Your safety is paramount to us. Social distancing around the office will be observed as much as practically possible.
  • We have modified our doctor and hygiene schedules , reducing the number of patients seen each day to allow additional time for infection control and to support social distancing.

In the coming weeks, we will be reaching out to patients who had appointments scheduled during the shelter in place to reschedule their appointments. We also will be contacting those who have outstanding dental issues to determine the best appointment solutions.

As the world around us continues to change, we appreciate your trust in us and the continuing support of our family-owned business. We look forward to seeing your smiles and attending to your dental needs.

NOTE: The best form of communication with us is through email.

April 15, 2020 Check-in

To our dental family,

Per California Dental Association and government guidelines, we are staying home to help flatten the curve of COVID-19 and reserve protective equipment for healthcare workers on the front lines. We are hoping to return to the office in May - but that's still somewhat of an unknown right now. In the meantime, we wanted to reach out and say hi, and let answer a few questions you may have.

What are we doing with all our free time? Well, other than enjoying our families and getting exercise, we are spending countless hours attending online webinars to better serve you once we're back in the office. You can rest assured that once we are able to open our doors again, we will be fully prepared to treat patients in this new, post-COVID-19 era.

What if you have a dental "emergency" while we are closed? The guidelines for what constitutes a true dental emergency have narrowed to select situations. The "emergencies" that we are allowed to treat include: uncontrolled bleeding, cellulitis or diffuse soft tissue infection, swelling that potentially compromises a patient's airway or trauma that involves facial bones, potentially compromising the patient's airway. Any other dental needs must be delayed until we can safely treat you. Please email us with your situation/symptoms so that we may give advice on how to reduce your symptoms and cope until we can see you at our practice. Know that once we return to the office your needs will be our first scheduling priority.

How can I best avoid a dental "emergency"? Now is the best time to maintain top-notch home care! Use the extra time in your schedule to build a solid home care routine, including brushing at least twice a day and flossing once a day. When life returns to normal, you'll have a solid routine in place to continue! What if I use high-fluoride toothpaste that I usually purchase at the office? We want you to continue using it! Please have your pharmacy fax a prescription request to 408-733-9006 or you can send an email with your pharmacy phone number and we'll call in a prescription for you!

Until we see you again, know that you are in our thoughts and that our number one priority is to get back to seeing your smiling faces as soon as we are safely able.
