Thomas Carr, D.D.S. & JoAnne Carr, D.D.S.
Drs. Thomas and JoAnne Carr are 1983 graduates of Loyola University School of Dentistry. They met in dental school where they were seated alphabetically next to one another in their classes. Dr. Tom convinced Dr. JoAnne, an Illinois native, that California was the place to be, and so after graduation they relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, where they have lived ever since.
They have practiced dentistry in the Sunnyvale office since 1989, where they love seeing both new and long-time patients and helping them keep their mouths healthy.
Dr. JoAnne spent the year following dental school in a general practice residency at the VA Hospital in San Francisco. She currently spends her time in the office in the hygiene portion of the practice, doing cleanings and exams. Maintaining teeth and gums for the long-term (“oral health for life”) gives her great pleasure. Out of the office, Dr. JoAnne plays piano in a variety of settings, including her church choir, community choral groups, and as an accompanist for solo vocalists and instrumentalists. When she’s not doing music, she loves to hike, cook (using produce from her garden), and she even tries her hand at knitting.
Dr. Tom’s post-graduate studies include FACE (Foundation for Advanced Continuing Education) www.facedentistry.org, the Restorative & Adhesive Study Group at UCSF, and the Silicon Valley Study Group, focusing on implant dentistry. Drs. Tom and JoAnne and team have participated in programs at the Shuster Center for Professional Development and Mercer Global Advisors, allowing them to better serve their patients through the development of their personal and professional values.
Dr. Tom enjoys the beauty of God’s creation through backpacking, hiking, and photography. His photos are displayed throughout the office, and he invites you to see his more of his work at www.thomascarrimages.com.
The Carr’s have had the opportunity over the years to serve those in need both in California through CDA Cares (https://www.cdafoundation.org/cda-cares) and in Central and South America with Global Health Outreach (https://www.cmda.org/missions/detail/global-health-outreach) and Dental Community Fellowship (www.dcf.org). Their most recent trip to Ecuador included dental students and experienced dentists who worked together in a clinic helping those in Quito who sought dental care.
The Carr’s are blessed to have a daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter who live in Santa Barbara.
Robert Yee, D.D.S.
Dr. Robert Yee has been living in the Bay Area (and a patient of the Carr's) since he was 5. He is a graduate of Monta Vista High School in Cupertino and obtained his B.S. in Biology from UC San Diego and his D.D.S. from the University of Southern California. Dr. Yee was a part-time Clinical Assistant Professor for USC for 5 years and would travel down to Central and Southern California about 4 times a year to teach dental students how to work on children through USC’s Dental Mobile Clinic. Dr. Yee is currently an Instructor of Clinical Oral Health at the University of the Pacific, where, two days a week, he teaches students in all aspects of dentistry.
In his free time, Dr. Yee likes to spend time with his family and friends. Having competed nationally in tennis since he was 8, Dr. Yee still maintains an active lifestyle by competing and playing tennis at least 3-4 times a week. He also is an avid reader and enjoys a good book any time of the day.
Dr. Robert Yee Patient Testimonials
Linda – Registered Dental Hygienist
I have been part of Drs. Carr’s team since 1994. I like to read biographies, paint and sew (my goal is to make a quilt!) I enjoy attending Oakland A’s games with my children, who played a big part in getting me excited about baseball.
I’ve really enjoyed getting to know my patients over the many years here with the Carr’s.
Nicole – Business Administrator
I have worked for the Carr’s since 2000 and in the dental field since 1994. Our patients feel like part of my extended family, and making their dental experience as easy and enjoyable as possible is my number one goal each day.
When I’m not here at the office, you'll usually find me hiking, biking or generally hanging out with my daughter and husband. I also enjoy reading, running, binging Netflix and spending time with friends.
Melanie - Registered Dental Hygienist
I was born and raised in the small town of Salinas, CA. I am a Dental Hygiene graduate from Foothill College, Class of 2017. I have over 6 years’ experience in the dental field and I couldn’t have chosen a better career. I love creating relationships with my patients and helping them find an oral hygiene routine that works for them.
In my free time, I enjoy watching movies and trying out different types of food.
Ali - Registered Dental Hygienist
I am half Italian and half English. I was raised in Rome, Italy and am bilingual. I go back often to visit my family who still live there. I moved to California many years ago, with no intention to stay, but I met my husband and we have a son, so I stayed!
I went to Cabrillo College in Aptos for my Dental Hygiene training and absolutely love my job!
When I am not working, I love to work out, dance, read, cook and travel. I am a "foodie" and love all different kinds of food.
Jane – Registered Dental Assistant
I completed the Dental Assisting program at Carrington College in 2014 and have been working in the dental field ever since. Helping patients feel confident in their smile is one of my biggest goals and it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to assist them in achieving their perfect smile.
When I’m not at the office I’m usually spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy going out to the movies, finding new food spots to try, and any type of new adventure!
Daisy Rose Carr - Office Mascot
I was born in the Ozarks of Missouri to a litter of nine. My dad is a cocker spaniel and my mother a golden retriever. My sister and I flew to California when I was ten weeks old. I like to bark at squirrels and crows, smell stuff, chase my tail, sleep, and eat anything that comes my way. But, by far, my favorite thing to do is destroy stuff people leave laying around on the floor.
Lily Yee - Office Mascot #2
I was the first pick out of my litter of seven. My parents may be Cocker Spaniels, but I am a hooman at heart. I am a cuddle bug and will accept a belly rub from anyone willing to give one. I enjoy going to Lazy Dog and getting spoiled by my Grandpawrents. I love every living creature, but don’t understand why they go away when I bark and wag my tail.
